Wildflowers & Reflections in the Tetons with Nathaniel Coalson

June 10 – 13, 2010
Tuition: $900/person  (Register by April 1, 2010 and receive a $50 discount!)
Jackson, Wyoming

Visit the Tetons. Photograph alpine lakes reflecting imposing granite peaks, wildflower filled meadows and thundering waterfalls set amongst lush green forests. Learn Lightroom and Photoshop. All of this and more are packed into one, intensive, three-day workshop that’s uniquely designed to take your photography to higher levels.

During this personal, comprehensive workshop you’ll photograph the dramatic scenery of Grand Teton National Park and the surrounding area, guided by pro photographers and experienced instructors Bret Edge and Nathaniel Coalson.

We’ll shoot this majestic landscape in the sweet light of sunrise and sunset and do close-up and wildlife work during the day. When we’re not out shooting, we’ll work in a comfortable meeting room helping you master the digital darkroom using Lightroom and Photoshop.  Throughout the workshop, hands-on demonstrations and critique sessions will help you refine your image-making skills.  All participants will receive a complimentary copy of Nat’s Lightroom book.

Join Bret and Nat in the Tetons for this exciting workshop opportunity!  The workshop is open to photographers working at any level and is limited to 12 participants.

Nature Photography Boot Camp

Dates: TBA, several throughout the year
Tuition: $200/person
Moab, Utah

The popular “Nature Photography Boot Camp” one day workshops are back!  I’ll be announcing dates soon.  These workshops are an intensive primer for novice nature photographers.  In only one day we’ll cover topics to include composition, use of filters, creative camera techniques, basic photographic principles, how to use your digital camera and more.

Each workshop starts with a sunrise shoot at Dead Horse Point SP.  We’ll then move to Canyonlands NP for a late morning session before heading back to town for breakfast.  At breakfast we’ll have a fun, free form Q&A.  No question is too basic!  We’ll take a break mid-day and reconvene in the early afternoon for an image critique session (bring prints, a laptop or a thumb drive with images on it!).  We’ll close out our day photographing sunset in Arches NP.

All “Nature Photography Boot Camp” workshops are limited to 5 participants and are best for novice photographers with a digital SLR or point and shoot camera.

Fall Colors in the San Juans with Todd Caudle

Sept. 30 – Oct. 3, 2010
Tuition: TBA  (Register by Aug. 3, 2010 and receive a $50 discount!)
Ouray, Colorado

Autumn in the San Juan mountains of southwestern Colorado is a magical time for nature photographers.  Mountain peaks blanketed in the first snows of the season soaring above forests of golden aspens are enough to make anyone’s jaw go slack.  Just don’t forget to press the shutter button!

Todd and I will lead this workshop that will involve plenty of time in the field making stunning photographs.  The beauty of fall in the mountains is that in between sunrise and sunset, there are ample opportunities to wander around the forest photographing intimate compositions of aspens.  This provides a rare opportunity to work on grand landscapes and intimate compositions all in one workshop.

We’ll do image critiques throughout the workshop.  Participants are asked to bring several prints, or a laptop or thumb drive containing a few images for critique.  Todd and I will offer our own thoughts on the images and we’ll ask that each of you offer a thoughtful critique as well.  I strongly feel that this is an incredibly valuable exercise and one of the best ways for us to grow as artists.

This workshop is limited to 12 participants working at any level.

Canyon Country Adventure with Todd Caudle

Nov. 4 – 7, 2010
Tuition: TBA  (Register by Sept. 1, 2010 and receive a $50 discount!)

November is always an interesting time for photography around Moab.  Cottonwood trees are brilliant yellow, the tourists have all gone home and snow on the red rocks is always a very real possibility.

We’ll spend ample time in the field learning how to make dynamic photos of the stunning landscape around Moab.  We’ll discuss composition, use of filters, creative camera techniques, basic photographic principles, how to use your digital camera and more.
